On Heritage Day, April 21, 2024, we welcomed the then Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service, Petra De Sutter (green), to our museum.

On May 22, 2022, we were visited by Ronny De Rocker, a member of the B67 Ursel working group, at the WWII Air Warfare Museum. Ronny donated some fragments of a German practice bomb he recovered from the Drongengoed estate in Ursel. We are grateful for this special addition to our collection.

On Sunday morning, April 24, 2022, Minister-President Jan Jambon (N-VA) visited the museums of Hunnegem for Heritage Day. At the end of the tour, he also viewed the remains of the V2 rocket excavated in Ophasselt. As a souvenir, he received a cap from the Wings of Memory (WOM) association, which he wore with pleasure. Jan Jambon was clearly impressed by the rich collection on the site.

During a holiday in Brittany, our member Sven Pettersson met Englishman David Green, who showed him old photos of his uncle, an RAF pilot. In a group photo, Sven saw a pilot carrying a goat on his shoulders – “Billy the Goat” – and immediately recognized 609 Squadron. A year later, David visited our museum and recognized his New Zealand uncle, Flight Lieutenant James Humphreys, in a photo. He enthusiastically shared this news with his family in New Zealand. A few months later, in August 2019, Penny Humphreys, daughter of Flight Lieutenant James Humphreys, also visited our museum in person.
