On May 28, 2024, Wings of Memory commemorated the crew of Lancaster II LL652 JI-C Mk II of 514th RAF Squadron. The aircraft crashed in Schendelbeke exactly 80 years ago, on May 28, 1944.
86-year-old Walter Van Den Berghe, who witnessed the crash, was also present at the commemoration.
Along with the members of Wings of Memory, he laid a floral tribute to the crew of the crashed aircraft.
