On November 2, 1944, a stray German V2 rocket, intended for Antwerp, struck a meadow, property of Paul Vander Meeren, on Tempelstraat in Ophasselt. Five-year-old Hugo De Turck was killed and Jacqueline Vander Meeren was seriously injured. The damage was extensive. Thanks to the cooperation and research of Guy Wattez, Wings of Memory was able to recover the remains of this rocket from the ground on August 18, 2018.
Pending the installation of an official commemorative plaque, a temporary memorial has been provided.

Pieces of this V2 can be seen in the Wings Of Memory museum.
