On Sunday, November 30, 2025, in the presence of family members, Wings of Memory and the Geraardsbergen city council unveiled the stumbling stone in honor of Félicien Cauwel at Kasteeldreef 1, Geraardsbergen. This stone was donated by the National Confederation of Political Prisoners and Rights Holders 40-45, Ghent Region (NCPGR).
Félicien Cauwel was arrested by the Feldgendarmerie on May 30, 1943, on suspicion of possessing and passing on weapons. On November 30, 1943, he was executed by the Germans at Fort Breendonk, along with 28 fellow prisoners.
The Stolpersteine are a project by the German artist Günter Demnig. Originally, they were intended only for Jewish victims, but later also for Resistance fighters and Conscripts.
